My name is Peter Kenny Jones, and I am a Liverpool-based football writer, author, historian and digital media producer.

I am the creator of The Football Historian, a digital football media platform covering football history, culture, interviews, matchday features and video-led storytelling. The Football Historian publishes written features, long-form interviews, video essays, social content and editorial coverage across its website, Patreon and major social platforms.

I am a full-time freelance football writer, a member of the Football Writers’ Association and a member of the Sports Journalists’ Association. My work focuses on the people, places and stories that have shaped the game, from famous moments and legendary players to forgotten histories, supporters, stadiums and football culture.

To date, I have had published work for clubs including Liverpool, Fulham, Watford, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Port Vale, Southend United, Morecambe and Macclesfield Town, as well as a range of magazines, fanzines and football websites.

I have also written three books, including Sweeper Keeper: The Story of Tommy Lawrence, Scotland and Liverpool’s Legendary Flying Pig. My academic background includes an MA in History, completed in January 2018, specialising in football history within Merseyside during the 1960s.

Alongside my written work, I have appeared on television and radio, including TRT World, Channel 4, Squawka Football, Times Radio and LBC Radio. Video and audio from a selection of these appearances are available on this site.

The Football Historian has also developed into a growing digital football platform, with a large audience across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok. These channels are used to share, promote and expand the editorial work published through the website, Patreon and wider Football Historian platform.

I also have accredited media experience at several football and sporting events, including Liverpool Legends fixtures at Anfield, Scotland v Ivory Coast at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Super League Rugby at Hill Dickinson Stadium and England v Costa Rica in Miami. I continue to cover selected fixtures, interviews and football events through The Football Historian.
